National Schools Film Week the world's largest festival for cinema & young people

National Schools Film Week
The World's Largest Festival for Cinemas and Schools

National Schools Film Week provides teachers and their students the opportunity to see a wide range of films at local cinemas entirely free-of-charge.

The Festival's goal is to support classroom teaching by providing schools with a powerful experience for their students that links directly to elements of the curriculum, supported by an on-line library of resources related to individual films and more generic topics, essentially an extension of the classroom.

It remains the largest event for schools and cinemas in the World and continues to receive high praise from all participants. In 2011 the Festival saw nearly 470,000 students attend over 2,600 screenings in 520 cinemas

Film Week 2012 will be 16 - 26 October in England, Wales and N.Ireland and 1 - 9 November in Scotland.

Teachers' Comments
Patrick Reilly, Teacher, St Michael's Junior School
"It's a great treat for the whole school. We have a 'Film Week Theme' every year and this year it was 'Alice in Wonderland'. The students produced lots of very interesting Art and Literacy."
